Unique Learners Program

The purpose of the Unique Learners Program is to assist in the identification and remediation of skill or behavior deficits in students with specific or general learning disabilities, speech and language problems, emotional/behavioral disorders, and vision and hearing or other health impairments. Parents, teachers, or students who suspect one of these problems can complete a referral form. This may result in a special education assessment. If assessment shows that special education is appropriate, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be written. Students with an IEP may receive services in the mainstream, either indirectly or directly. The services may include support in note taking, modification of tests or curriculum, and monitoring of the student’s progress. Services may also occur within a resource room. Students in the Unique Learners Program may also receive vocational training in actual work environments or community sites.
